Servicing the Kimberley region and beyond, Idarr is a majority-owned Indigenous Company, based in Broome.

 

Directors Darren Puertollano and Jim Sweet offer a combined experience-base of 50 years in the mining and quarrying industries.

Capable of meeting any requirement and can offer a broad range of mining services including; plant hiring, drill and blast, load and haul, crushing and screening.

 

In conjunction to this, we also provide construction material supply of base course, aggregates, armour rock and feature rock.

Idarr are your local and skilled experts in project management services. Recent projects completed by Darren (on behalf of Kimberley Quarries) include a gravel crushing contract with Main Roads WA and trial mining pit works for Sheffield Resources.

About Us

Idarr Pty Ltd heralds its company name from the bountiful, natural wetlands located in the West Roebuck Plains, to the east of the township of Broome.  Lake Yidarr has been a source of sustenance for local Yawuru People since Bugarrigarra (the Dreaming time). Yidarr Country reaches as far east as Nillibubbica which is the main operations base for Idarr Pty Ltd.

Director

Jim Sweet has 32 years experience in the Quarrying, Mining and Construction Industry.

Key achievements are:

  • Held a Quarry Managers Ticket for 29 years.

  • Worked for BGC Quarries and Contracting for 11 years in various roles from operator, supervisor through to management.

  • Currently the operations manager for Kimberley Quarries, been in this position for the last 20 years, operating sites throughout WA and the NT.

  • Kimberley Quarries is one of the larger producers of construction materials in regional WA and has been involved on many large construction projects during its 20 years of operations.

  • Lived with his family in Broome for the last 20 years and enjoys being a part of the Kimberley community.

Darren Puertollano

Managing Director

Idarr Pty Ltd’s Managing Director Darren Puertollano, is of Yawuru and Bard descent. Darren was born and raised in Broome, only leaving the region to establish himself in the Western Australian mining industry, in the Goldfields and Pilbara. Darren returned to Broome with his family in 2008. Spent time at a local Primary School as an Aboriginal Education Officer, then commenced at Kimberley Quarries, in 2011.

Key achievements are:

 

  • 20 years experience in the mining industry Operating mobile machines and supervising

  • Currently the Registered Manager at Nillibubbica Quarry

  • Managing sales and operations at Nillibubbica Quarry 

  • Project managed Gravel crushing campaign for Main Roads WA Banana Wells Gravel pit, 2 year contract completed in 1st year

  • Project managed Trial Mining pit for Sheffield Resources at Thunderbird Mineral Sand Project.

  • Certificate IV Trainer/Assessor 

  • Diploma in Frontline Management
